UCL semi finals
Now we enter into the semi finals of UEFA champions league (UCL) and we have seen brilliant performances by teams and individuals. We did make some predictions in the previous post but all of them came to be false. As the UCL is exciting and we are in the semi finals stage, it will be fun to watch them matches and support our team. Some maybe disappointed whereas some maybe excited to see their team into semi finals. The trophy above is what all teams are playing for and only 4 of them are remaining. I f we look at quarter finals fixtures first:
1. Borussia Dortmund vs Atletico Madrid:
2. Barcelona vs Paris saint Germain:
This fixture was a heartbreak for Barcelona fans. In 2016, they were proud of the Remontada that happened against Paris saint Germain. In the 1st leg of this fixture Barca visited Paris in Parc des Princes and came back home winning 3-2. They were in the lead after 1st match and were favorites to to qualify for semi finals. Their performance was very good as well in the first leg. When Paris visited Barca, Barca clearly dominated in the first 30 minutes and were looking strong. In the 31st minute Ronald Araujo was sent off which led to Barca playing with 10 men. As the match, progressed Barca kept conceding and reducing their chances to qualify for semi finals. The match ended 1-4 aggregate 6-4 , Barca losing.
3. Bayern Munich vs Arsenal:
This was an exciting fixture between two young teams. In the 1st leg, when Bayern visited London, the match ended in a draw of 2-2 and Arsenal were favorites to win this fixture. Arsenal players are fast and furious and ready to win. In the 2nd leg, when Arsenal visited Allianz Arena, Bayern did win the game 1-0 and won the fixture to qualify for semi finals. Their aggregate score was 3-2.
4. Real Madrid vs Manchester City:
Real Madrid vs Manchester city. Pep Guardiola vs Carlo Ancelotti. Best of Spain vs best of England. People were craving for this fixture and got it. This was a blockbuster match. In the first leg, Manchester city visited Santiago Bernabeu and held Madrid to a draw of 3-3. They both played very well and not anyone dominate. In the 2nd leg when Madrid came to Etihad stadium, again it ended to a draw of 1-1in 90 minutes. Match then went to extra time, where no one could score and take to penalties. During the shootout, Luka Modric for Real Madid missed and Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic missed which led to Real Madrid qualify and win.
Now we move to UCL semi finals:
As we move close to the semi finals, the race for the trophy is heating up. Now we have the best 4 teams of the world. The semi finals will be held on 30 April and 7 may. We have Real Madrid, Manchester city FC, Borussia Dortmund FC, Paris saint Germain. The fixtures are as follows:
Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich
This is the 1st semi final of the UCL. These are Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich. Real Madrid have 14 UCL trophies and Bayern Munich have 6 trophies. The match will be played at 1st leg Santiago Bernabeu. In the previous fixture between them, Real Madrid came out victorious and went ahead in the tournament. There is a chance for Real Madid to win this fixture but there is no clear chance as it is tough to predict winners at this stage. Let's hope for a great fixture and the best team wins.
Borussia Dortmund vs Paris saint Germain
This fixture is a good one as well. Firstly, the favorites did not go ahead. The underdogs are through and one of them is to qualify for finals and may win the tournament. It is a game of tactics and the one who gets it right will go through. In the previous fixture between them, the match had ended in a draw of 1-1. There are no favorites again and no prediction for this match. It is just how a player performs and how the team may perform.
